What CDC Board stores
CDC Board is a student-run mirror of the IIT Kharagpur CDC notice board and job openings, open only to @kgpian.iitkgp.ac.in accounts.
Never collected
- Your ERP password, security answers, OTPs or session cookies — the extension fetches ERP in your own browser and never sends them anywhere.
- Your roll number. The extension removes your personal application status from the job list before uploading.
- The raw pages your extension uploads — only the parsed notice and job-posting fields are kept.
Stored
- Your Google account name and email (for sign-in), and sessions.
- Notices and job postings exactly as CDC publishes them to all students, including any names or roll numbers CDC itself includes in a notice (for example, shortlists).
- Which jobs your extension has seen, i.e. the jobs you are eligible for. This powers "eligible for me" filters and job alerts, and marks postings as verified when two students see them. It is never shown to other students.
- An audit record of each upload (time, size, counts, accepted or rejected) for moderation, kept 60 days.
- Your push-alert subscriptions and preferences, and jobs you starred.
Deleting your data
Ask an admin to delete your account: your Google sign-in record, sessions, extension keys, sightings, stars, alert subscriptions and contribution state are removed. Notices and job postings you helped sync stay on the board, because they are CDC's, not yours. You can revoke your extension keys yourself on the Extension page.
The CDC Board Chrome extension
The extension works only on erp.iitkgp.ac.in, while you are signed in to ERP, and only talks to ERP and to cdc-board.vercel.app. It is unofficial and not affiliated with IIT Kharagpur.
Kept only on your computer
- CDC notices and the job list it reads from your ERP pages, for the popup's "Closing soon" list and desktop alerts.
- Your own application status for each job (which ones you applied to). This never leaves your browser.
- Your roll number as ERP shows it, used to open job pages in your ERP and to remove it from anything shared.
- Your settings: whether to watch for notices, how often to check, and desktop alerts.
Sent to CDC Board, only after you connect the extension
- The CDC notice board and job list, job details and job listing pages, and individual notice pages, as ERP shows them to every student, with your application status and roll number removed. A notice page that names you is not sent.
- A key that identifies your board account, so uploads can be checked and alerts sent to you. Disconnecting revokes it.
- A push subscription, created when you connect, so the board can send you desktop alerts.
Turn off "Share what I can see" in the extension's settings to stop uploading; the extension then only reads ERP for you. Uninstalling it deletes everything it kept on your computer.
Never
- Your ERP password, security answers, OTPs or session cookies. The extension never reads them.
- Your browsing on any site other than erp.iitkgp.ac.in and cdc-board.vercel.app.
- Selling or sharing data with anyone else, advertising, or analytics.
